In preparation for Valentine’s Day, I’m so excited to team up with an awesome blogger, Amy J Mane II from herlifeasamy.worpress.com to do a Valentine’s Day facial routine and a bonus DIY for him.  We are helping our readers  prepare for Valentine’s Day no matter what you have planned that day.  And if you’re single, don’t go away.  This is also for you-Nobody knows how to treat you better than you do.

You must have heard that people make judgments upon meeting you within 20 seconds.  Some argue that it’s 30 seconds.  Whatever time it takes, like it or not people will judge you. Not to push you away, if you are preparing for hmm say a blind date on Valentine’s Day, this is going to happen.

Not to worry though, Amy and I will help you relieve your stress with our at home DIY facial routine.  Based on experience, this routine yields better results if done several days ahead.

The main ingredient you will need for this routine is coconut oil.  Make sure it’s organic extra virgin coconut oil so there aren’t any fillers and less chemicals.  Why did we use coconut oil?  There are countless benefits of using coconut oil as a beauty product.  First, it is the best natural moisturizer.  At room temperature, it is solid, but as soon as it touches your skin, it melts and seeps through your pores, moisturizing your skin and replenishing your skin’s natural oils.  According to a magazine, Marie Claire Magazine, wrinkles first show up under the delicate skin of your eyes.  Coconut oil’s super moisturizing properties prevent these wrinkle from forming, so coconut oil can be used as an eye cream.

Coconut oil is one of that products that does it all. From moisturizer, cleanser, make up remover, anti-aging wonder, to everything and anything you can think of, coconut oil can handle it.  I replaced my other beauty products that have filler and harsh chemicals with coconut oil.  Plus, it is cheaper than store bought products.

So gather up supplies from your cupboard and let’s start pampering!  We know that your are thrilled to get started.

Facial Routine:

REMOVE MAKUP

You will need:

A pea size scoop of organic extra virgin coconut oil

1 wash cloth

warm water

step one: Scoop a pea size of coconut oil and rub it in your fingers.

step two: Gently massage the coconut oil in circular motion.  This will help the coconut oil to really seep into your skin.  Apply around your eyes and lashes to remove make up (even water proof mascara!)  Leave on for couple of minutes to dissolve mascara and eye liner.  Coconut oil is natural, so if it gets in your eye don’t worry.

step three: Massage it in some more in a circular motion.  This will help the coconut oil to really seep in your skin.

step four: Rinse off the coconut oil off your skin using warm water and a wash cloth.  Your skin should feel super soft and moisturized.

CLEANSE YOUR SKIN

Your skin is the largest organ of your body and it’s the most exposed to harsh pollutants, chemicals, toxins, weather, etc.  Coconut oil is gentle enough, but powerful enough to cleanse your skin.

You will need:

1 tsp coconut oil (organic, raw coconut oil)

1 wash cloth

step one: Put coconut oil into your hands

step two: Gently rub it in your face in a circular motion for a minute or two.

step three: Rinse with a wash cloth and warm water.

step four: Put wash cloth under warm running water and wring it.  Put it on your face for about 30 seconds to help open the pores.

step five: Gently wipe off excess oil by repeating steps three and four.

STEAM YOUR SKIN

Steaming your skin promotes relaxation, removes toxins, opens your pores, and enhances circulation.  You should definitely include this in your routine and it is easy to do at home with just a pot of water.  We are going to teach you a couple of easy ways to do this.

You will need:

1 pot

water

towel

Method One: Steamed towels

step one: Put towels in hot water

step two: Wring them out, allow to cool down in a comfortable temperature

step three: Place towel on your face.

Method Two: Bowl of steaming water

step one: Boil a pot of water

step two: Pour the water in a glass or ceramic bowl.  We suggest you stay away from plastic containers to avoid plastic particles from getting into your skin.

step three: Drape a towel over your head, making sure it drops down on both sides of your face, to trap the steam.

step four: Carefully, place your face close enough to the steam so you can feel it on your face.  Do not burn yourself!

With both methods, it is best to steam for no more than ten minutes.  Five minutes should be enough, besides you need to get going for your date!  You can do this once a week, but if you have serious skin condition or severe acne, it is best to consult your physician.

MASK YOUR FACE

Your almost done with prepping your face for make up.  This step is masking your face.  Now, why would you want this step?  There are benefits of using a face mask.  Amy and I will give you five reasons why you shouldn’t skip this step.  1.) Face masks refines skin pores.  It deep cleans the pores to get rid of dead skin cells and other waste, helping you achieve clearer skin.  2.) It also increases hydration.  The water seeps through the skin, giving it a healthy hydrated look, plumping the skin for easy make up application.  3.) Face masks diminish fine lines–enough said 4.) Firmer skin- who wouldn’t want that!  5.) Face masks give your skin a more even appearance, by balancing tone and texture.

Here is a simple face mask recipe that you would want to include in your face routine.

You will need:

1 tbsp organic extra virgin coconut oil

2 tsp raw honey

1 tsp lemon juice

step one: Mix all ingredients together until you have a sticky mixture. Don’t worry if it’s too sticky.  Your skin will heat up all the ingredients loosening up the mixture.

step two: Apply on face and leave for 15-20 minutes.

step three: Rinse with warm water.

Easy enough right?! Now let’s hear from Amy with a beautiful and easy make up routine.

VALENTINE’S DAY MAKE UP LOOK

Now that you have seen the preparation for Valentine’s Day Polly and I once again will walk you through to getting a classic glam look for this special day.

Basically, before you add any makeup you need to prime your face to enhance the appearance of makeup and make it last a bit longer. You can apply the primer with your fingers, and blend it all over your face. Proceeding is the application of your choice of foundation and when it comes to this, it is wise to choose the right color shade matching your skin tone. You can use a foundation brush or damp beauty sponge to blend it all over your face into your neck and earlobes if necessary.

You can as well use a concealer especially on problem areas such as dark under-eye circles or blemishes. Grab a concealer brush to blend it on your under-eye area in an upside down triangle shape to get a natural looking coverage then jump down to the bridge of your nose, chin, center of forehead, and above upper lip. Next, let your make up set for a moment in conjunction with the use of a setting powder to hold both your foundation and concealer in place. With the help of a damp beauty sponge pick up loose powder and press onto the under-eye area, soon after, gently sweep off any excess with a brush.

At this point you probably look pale like you have been blood drained so it is time to jog around colors. Begin with a powder highlighter to brighten up the deepest areas of your face including the inside corners of your eyes plus underneath your eyebrows together with the center of your cupid’s bow and on your cheekbones.

Well it doesn’t end there, from bright colored highlighter, to two shades darker than your actual skin tone concealer! Good God!! Doing make up is amazing. Strike your contour on forehead around your hairline as well as under your cheekbones below where you highlighted, on the sides of your nose, and you can also do it under your jawline.

This is the reason why we take 48hrs getting ready! Because we get stuck trying to find a perfect eye shadow color!!! But in this case since it is for Valentines Day; it is simple, options are either smokey, glam or classic. Using an eye shadow brush, dab it on a metallic orange-brown eye shadow pot then apply your eye shadow to your eyelid, starting in the center near your lash line and blending outwards.

Fade your eye shadow into your natural skin tone near your crease and the inside and outside corners of your eyes, to prevent any harsh lines from forming repeat this but with a black eye shadow to get a smokey look. Then use brown eyeliner to highlight your bottom lower lash line. Not forgetting to highlight your brow bone by applying a lighter shade of eye shadow recommendable nude colors.

After that fill in your eyebrows, you can like wise use a concealer to give them a popping look then add mascara on your lashes starting with the inner part of your eye. Both upper and lower lashes with two coats to get them looking full apply a coat of baby powder between coats of mascara.

To complete the look apply a lip balm then use a purple lip liner to outline your lips after that add a purple lipstick to go over your lip liner; and blend the color outwards. Be sure to apply the color as close to the edges of your lips as you can and don’t go overdraw your lips.

DIY CHOCOLATE GAME CONTROLLER

GIFT FOR HIM

Finding the perfect gift for your man is hard but foods never lie! After all it is not all about expensive gifts and waste of cash but then the appreciation and effort made is all that matters. So, ladies get in the kitchen and drive him crazier with this chocolate game controller!

You will need:

1 Game Controller Chocolate Mold

1 Package of Cadbury chocolate

1 Ceramic Bowl

1 Package of Tropical Skittles

1 chocolate piping bag2 Elastic bands

1 Glass

step one: Put the chocolate bars in a ceramic bowl, heat it for 1 minute on 50% power in a microwave.

step two: As soon as the candy is completely liquefied, take your glass and insert the filling bag inside it, start pouring the melted chocolate into the filling bag afterwards tie it together this will help you to avoid making a mess.

step three: Gently fill your mold too. The minute the mold is full, pat it on a hard surface several times to avoid the formation of bubbles on your desired chocolate design. The patting will also allow the chocolate to occupy the small designs without bubbling up. Make sure you do this with no pressure; grant the mold sometime to freeze with the chocolate in it for at least 20 minutes.

step four: Thereafter, take it out and gently turn the mold over with your hand on the chocolate.  Tap it very gently and it should just fall right out.

step five: In addition to make your chocolate a little appealing reheat left over chocolate in your bowl to use it as a glue when decorating your design with the tropical skittles, this will be easy since there are outlines and all you need to do is to place each candy on top of the button design.

Insert your game controller in a treat container then wrap it into this amazing gift-wrap. Click here for a DIY on how to do it, believe me it is just simple as doing the game controller chocolate.
